Drains, sewers and manhole covers

Home

Me in a relined Victorian sewer, happy days!

Manhole covers from around the world, each has its own character, what you don't see it? look harder, manhole covers can reveal a lot about their location and local inhabitants.

A classic steamer in downtown Denver Colorado, the mile high manhole!

(they are obsessed about the elevation of everything and anything in Colorado, the mile high mailbox, the mile high water fountain, the mile high,,, sorry I'm bored with it, great place though!)

Denver again, stylish and functional, and do you know what else, its a mile high, (not again).

Barcelona, a manhole cover with disheveled quality, looks like its been up all night, it still has class but it sometimes get a bit grubby around the edges.

Ciutadella, Menorca, a quiet and reserved cover at one with its environment, solid and dependable it wont let you down.

Ibiza, no key holes! how do they lift the cover, do they care, no, lets party.

Peking, an outwardly strong cover, but what's supporting it, trade with the west, does it have equally strong foundations?

Palma, Majorca, tired and grubby, needs a facelift quick, or it could be left on the travel agents shelf.

Submit your own photographs of manholes, someone else out there must share my love of these everyday objects.
